ubuntu

A South African English borrowing associated with isiXhosa and isiZulu ubuntu “humanity, goodness,” morphologically connected to the human stem -ntu and, in Nguni analysis, an abstract-noun prefix ubu-.

“Ubuntu is not morphologically a sentence meaning “I am because we are.” Its word structure is more exact: an abstract-noun formation on the stem for human or person.”

THE ASTERISK IS A PROMISE

RECONSTRUCTION IS
NOT INSCRIPTION.

Crossing into a starred form changes the evidence class. The interface marks that crossing, preserves confidence, and never manufactures the next root to make the picture look complete.
